LA HOMEFARM is a neighborhood microgrocery store tucked in the corner on busy Eagle Rock Blvd in Cypress Park. It’s close to other neighborhood favorites Dunsmoor and Bub’s and Grandma (who they do carry!). LA HOMEFARM is owned / run by Lauri Kranz and Dean Kuiper. It is the first brick-and-mortar store from Kranz’s company, Edible Gardens LA, which is a business that helps chefs, families and beyond build home gardens full of organic vegetables.

LA HOMEFARM’s focus is on fresh, naturally grown produce from small and local farms, including their own, as well as rare naturally grown flowers from Edible Gardens LA. To accompany such natural wonders, they also offer dairy and non-dairy milk, cheeses and eggs as well as pantry basics like artisanal pasta, dried beans, rice, flour, sauces, oils, tortillas and breads. And don’t forget wine! All things that could easily pair perfectly with the produce and create a delicious meal. There are also a variety of grab & go options including salads, sandwiches, bake-at-home pasta dishes and pizza as well as baked foods and frozen treat. There is even one-of-a-kind home and garden goods including ceramics, dishware, linens, cookbooks, and more. All things tailored to your home and food.

LA HOMEFARM began during the pandemic when their community was asking if they could deliver produce. At the same time, restaurants and farmers were sharing how they were stuck with produce they couldn’t sell. Within 48 hours they began putting together farm produce boxes. Within weeks the business took off. A year and half later they opened the shop.

The shop is very special and one can feel it as soon as they enter the door. One is immediately blown away by the centerpiece of farmers market, peak-of-the-season produce artfully styled across a large table. One can spend a while slowly making one’s way around the table discovering a new fruit or vegetable one hasn’t heard of. Since Edible Garden LA is part of the shop there is a large section dedicated to flowers. One can pull stems from the lined buckets to make their own bouquet.

The pantry and frozen goods are carefully curated to feature true artisan’s goods. Such standouts and recognizable names include fresh pasta from Evan Funke of famed Felix, Mother Wolf and Funke. Something you can’t find at most microgrocery stores. Or soups and dips from Venice favorite Gjusta. LA HOMEFARM also praises and supports smaller local LA shops and pop ups including frozen biscuits from Pa’s Biscuitisserie, ice cream from Mother Moo’s creamery, and frozen pizza from pi00a. And that’s just in their freezer section! In their grab and go food fridges you can get gimbap and banchans from Perilla LA and salads from Pizza Baby LA. They even will regularly collaborate with chefs to do pop ups in the store. They have partnered with such people and businesses as B’ivrit LA, Her Coffee, Vista Sweets, Mort and Betty’s and Chloe Cooks. The list goes on.

LA HOMEFARM feels like one walked into a hidden gem with all the most amazing produce, flowers, food and more. It celebrates all the best of the Los Angeles from the farmers, food artisans, restaurants as well as the community. They continue to sell farm produce boxes, a collaboration with some of the best farmers who sell across LA, if one gets overwhelmed by the vast selection in the shop. If one is a lover of food and discovery of new products LA HOMEFARM is the perfect spot to check out.
