Dada Market
The name says it all – much like the avant-garde Dada art movement, Dada Market is a rejection of the ordinary, offering a highly curated selection of products that feel fresh and exciting compared to your conventional grocery store. Dada Market opened in December 2023 (happy one year anniversary!) on the bustling Sunset Ave. in Echo Park. The market is one part of the larger Dada group, which is a space that takes you from day to night. Dada Market (day) is your neighborhood grocer and wine shop, while Dada Bar + Restaurant (night), tucked in the alley way behind the market, is your go-to restaurant, bar and dancing spot. It’s bringing a new way in which a space is operated. There is a lot of crossover between the two spaces like a large bulk of Dada Market’s inventory is focused on entertaining.
Products are both practical as well as indulgent (in the best way). Household staples include olive oil, rice, beans, spices, sauces and fresh bread delivered daily from beloved Bub’s and Grandma. Everything is the creme de la creme of its kind. There is a sizable and curated selection of wines, Aperitivos, beers, n/a beverages and more as well as a plethora of snacks, tinned fish and sweet treats. As well as seasonal items like, panettone, for the holiday season. All are quintessential items for party entertaining (as well as an at-home movie nights). There are also non-food goods like beauty products and farmers market flowers. Dada Market has even established some of their own products like an Ethiopian coffee as well as incense to enhance this holiday time of year.
Another big draw to the daytime Dada Market is Little Fish, the fish forward pop-up-turned-restaurant, who has a, what they call, “long term residency” inside the Dada Market offering both breakfast and lunch. Known for their fancy filet-o-fish, you can see people gathering outside ordering from their take-out window and eating at one of the market’s picnic benches. When you aren’t craving a fried fish sandwich, Little Fish does have a lot of options for non-seafood lovers, Dada Market has really delicious and fresh grab and go options. Such items include, a veggie sandwich on Bub’s and Grandma Focaccia or a seasonal market salad using farmers market produce. You can also grab a seat at the bar to enjoy a nice glass of wine or a cup of coffee when you aren’t hungry for a meal.
While a lot of the draw to the market might be for Little Fish’s cult-following fish sandwich, spending a bit of extra time to explore Dada Market and pick up some of your essentials is worth it. Dada Market is the perfect place where you can find everything from pantry staples to read-to-eat meals, artisanal snacks and unique beverages. Everything is thoughtfully chosen to offer something special for your next holiday hosting event, tonight’s dinner or a snack you can’t find anywhere else. Dada Market is a warm and inviting shop with a unique point of view that makes it the perfect addition to the Echo Park neighborhood.
