Beyond the Box of Valentine’s Day Chocolates
It’s that time of year again — when pink and red flood the grocery aisles, from bouquets of roses to stacks of strawberries and an endless assortment of chocolate treats.
In the past, Valentine’s Day innovation has often meant limited-edition packaging — brands suddenly decked out in hearts — or seasonal flavors, usually chocolate-based. This year, we took a different approach. Instead of focusing on holiday-themed design, we focused on the ingredient that defines the moment: chocolate.
These brands aren’t necessarily leaning into Valentine’s Day messaging, but they’re using chocolate in fun, unexpected ways through product innovation. Think elevated, chocolate-forward treats that feel giftable for the holiday — and craveable year-round.

Baris delivers the perfect frozen bite with chocolate-covered raspberries, handpicked from Patagonia. We’re seeing more chocolate-dipped frozen treats pop up (like Tru Fru and Lolly’s, a brand we helped redesign), but Baris stands out with unexpected flavor combinations and distinctive pint-style packaging that feels premium and giftable.

Doughlicious combines two things we already love into one indulgent bite: cookie dough + gelato. The cookie dough forms the shell, creating a handheld, ice-cream-filled treat that feels both nostalgic and innovative. While the format is new, the flavors lean classic and comforting — Mint Chip and Chocolate Raspberry (a perfect Valentine’s pick).

Oat Haus reimagines what a spread can be with its oat-based “granola butter,” offering a delicious, nut-free alternative. Beyond the format innovation, the flavors are irresistibly craveable — Cookie Dough, Cookies & Cream, Red Velvet, and Dubai Chocolate. Familiar yet unexpected, they transform the everyday spread into something dessert-worthy.

We also had to include a classic chocolate bar — but with a twist. Maeve brings true creativity to the category with one-of-a-kind packaging that feels more like art than candy, especially around holidays like Valentine’s Day. The flavors are just as bold and playful, from Cayenne Pepper & Honey to Coconut & Pineapple. For anyone wanting a more traditional chocolate gift that still feels special, Maeve delivers something beautifully unexpected.

And finally, Hormbles Chormbles, another chocolate bar takes a functional spin on indulgence. With straightforward flavors but a protein-packed formula, it taps into the ever-growing better-for-you movement. Zero grams of sugar and added protein mean you can hit your goals while still enjoying a sweet treat — a true two-in-one.
Ultimately, it’s less about seasonal gimmicks and more about smarter indulgence. Chocolate is evolving beyond the candy aisle — showing up in frozen snacks, spreads, functional bars, and entirely new formats. It’s proof that the best Valentine’s Day treats aren’t just cute for a moment — they’re craveable all year long.
