We worked closely with Nom Nom to create packaging for their freshly-made frozen dog food and treats that is optimized for online. We translated the current brand aesthetic onto multi sized pouches. Fresh, cool and modern design that feels like a billboard for the brand, great for the e-commerce environment and advertising, and highly visible for consumers shopping online and in app.
The Variety Pack design is purposeful, simple, and punchy just like Nom Nom is. This design works seamlessly with the rest of the Nom Nom range while giving a unique spin to this variety bag. An example of this, is the additional photographic element of the quadrant dog food overhead shot to showcase the four different fresh whole meals.
Each product line extension utilizes the graphic and teethy logo, earthy and energetic color palette, as well as the bold and impactful condensed typeface. The designs play with the hierarchy of information which directly affects how these elements are used. Meaning these crucial elements play different roles in different design.
The designs are not only driven by the Nom Nom branding and packaging, but also the other brand’s animal food variety packs. Through rigorous competitor research, we’ve narrowed down how customers shop and what they look for on pack. All the new rollout designs show the marrying of the Nom Nom branding and current packaging – clean, yet bold and impactful – with the competitor’s packaging design for variety packs.
Building on the brand’s existing aesthetic from their fresh dog food products, we created a cohesive design that seamlessly extends to their treats category. Our goal was to preserve Nom Nom’s look while tailoring it to better resonate within the treats space—both on shelves and online. One of the most notable design enhancements is the introduction of dynamic dog photography, unique to Nom Nom: a playful, mid-bite action shot of a dog catching a treat. This detail brings an engaging, joyful energy to the packaging—perfectly reflecting the spirit of the treats themselves.
Through working closely with Nom Nom to create a package optimized for the online retail channel, it’s exciting to see the transformation presented on Chewy, Petsmart and Amazon. By translating the brand aesthetic onto a large multi-pack pouch, this fresh, cool and modern design feels like a billboard for the brand. Overall it’s great for the e-commerce environment and advertising, and highly visible for consumers shopping online.
